October 22: Eight Step Editing with Jim Taylor
Using a step-by-step process, this program helps you identify and cure the most common factors in writing that become obstacles for readers. If you’re a writer, or want to be a writer, using these steps helps you make your more acceptable, by doing for yourself many of the things an editor would have to do later. If you’re the kind of person others give their letters and papers to, to check over, this program will show you what to look for. The program won’t teach you how to spell, or teach you how to get started writing. It will teach you how to make your drafts more readable, more compelling, and more publishable.
Jim Taylor developed Eight Step Editing as a workshop for the Editors’ Association of Canada in 1985. He has led sold-out sessions every year since in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax, Montreal and Kelowna. Jim has over 50 years experience in the communications industry – in radio, television, magazines, books, and newspapers. He founded and managed his own publishing house for 16 years, is the author of 17 books, around 500 magazine articles, and over 2,000 newspaper columns.
