Through my experience as an in-house editor for an Alberta publishing company, as well as my background in journalism, corporate communications, and public relations, I have gained the skills to edit fiction, non-fiction, and a wide variety of business and technical communications.
Fiction and non-fiction: During the last fifteen years I have worked with novice, intermediate, and established writers. I’m sensitive to writers’ needs and offer honest but respectful feedback. I have edited both literary and genre fiction, as well as short stories and novels for children and young adults. My non-fiction editing includes memoirs, biographies, text books, guide books, cook books, and feature articles.
Business and technical communications: In this field I have edited newsletters, annual reports, proposals, articles, and user manuals. I have also rewritten complex technical documents to make them easier for the general public to understand.
I enjoy all aspects of editing, but I take particular pleasure in helping creative writers polish their prose. Similarly, I get great satisfaction from transforming dense, convoluted technical text into clear, concise language.
Because I realize editing is a bit of a mystery to both creative and technical writers, I have created an information sheet for both groups. If you would like a copy of either document, please contact me at email@example.com.
